If you’re looking for a wonderful family vacation idea, then there’s almost nothing better than the Greek Islands. You can easily book large holiday villas that will fit the whole family and work as the perfect base for exploring a Greek Island. The beautiful sunsets, the delicious, healthy food and the wonderful beaches make the Greek Islands a great family destination. If you’re trying to choose which islands to visit, because there’s a few and all of them have something special to offer, then this article of my top 3 Greek Islands you’ve got to visit will help you pick some lovely options.

Sifnos
Sifnos is an island that has a lot to offer for it’s size, with one of the greatest attractions being the stunning Crisopigi Monastery, perched on a hill overlooking the striking blue ocean. You may be surprised to know that the island of Sifnos is home to 360 churches, as many as there are days in the year – well almost. As you can imagine there’s a lot of festivals and celebrations, so be sure to check in advance to see if your holiday lines up with any special activities. There’s of course a handful of gorgeous beaches, the most popular is Vathi Beach. If you like a good hike, check out the Church of the Seven Martyrs, which is a gorgeous walking trail and a very popular place for couples to marry due to the stunning backdrop! This is a wonderful place to rent Greek holiday villas and creating some precious family memories that you will treasure for year’s to come.

Santorini
Of all the Greek Islands, Santorini may just be the most famous of them all. During the summer months it can become extremely crowded, but for good reason: it’s absolutely stunning. I recommend walking from Fira to Oia – or the reverse, depending on where you’re staying – as you’ll get breathtaking views along the way. You can easily take a public bus back  after enjoying a nice meal there. You’ll want to make sure you have plenty of spare camera batteries as it seems every corner holds a beautiful view. Be sure to find a nice high point to watch the sunset and arrive early. Santorini is dotted with beautiful boutiques making for some really lovely shopping. If you fancy a glass of wine, spend an afternoon in Venetsanos Winery enjoying all their wonderful wines. For the history lovers there’s some ancient sites to visit, such as ancient Thera and Akrotiri. Part of the charm of Santorini is just walking around, getting lost in the winding alley ways and feeling like you’re walking around a postcard.

Paros
Paros feels slightly more traditional than some other Greek islands, here you’ll find classic Cycladic architecture, small fishing villages dotting the shoreline, and gorgeous churches scattered across the island. Paros offers excellent night life, sandy beaches and extremely clear water, making it a great holiday destination for those who are younger or young at heart. Head up to Frankish Castle, which is now partially in ruins, located in the heart of the old town of Parikia, offering excellent views of neighbouring towns. If you’re craving a little more time on the beach, head to Golden beach which is home to some of the most gorgeous powdery sand.

The Greek Islands are a wonderful place to visit, whether you’re traveling as a group of friends, as a couple, or as a family. You’ll love experiencing the Greek friendly culture and delicious cuisine, while enjoying some of the world’s best beaches.
