Indonesia is a great holiday destination for a bunch of reasons. First it is filled with striking natural beauty, including some of the best beaches in the world. There’s also Sailing in Indonesia, great diving, a lovely climate and very hospitable locals. Depending on where you come from, chances are you’ll find Indonesia to be a very competitively priced destination too. Here you’ll find luxury hotels, accommodations and luxury holiday packages in Indonesia for what you’d pay for standard holidays in more expensive places, like Europe.

1) Check the Weather

Depending on where you want to go in Indonesia, the weather will vary greatly. Do a little research and ensure you’re aware of what kind of weather you’re signing up. Raining season tends to involve rain for a few hours a day, quite hard, and then mostly clear skies. Chances are you can plan a fantastic holiday no matter the time of year, but it is wise to plan around the weather or to at least be aware of how it will be for you.

2) Visit a Few Islands

Indonesia is made up of so many islands, it would be impossible to visit them all. However, I suggest you visit at least two islands if you can. Bali is the most popular holiday destination in Indonesia and while it is gorgeous and very relaxed, depending on what you’re looking for it might be a little touristy. Why not consider visiting Flores? Or Komodo island, the island famous for the giant, terrifying Komodo dragons. My best advice is to visit at least two different islands so you get a feel for this beautiful, diverse country.

3) Be Aware of the Culture

Indonesia is home to the most Muslims in the world. During my travels I found Indonesians to be very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Because of their religion, however, it does pay to do a little research into dates. Each year much of Indonesia’s population celebrates Ramadan, which is a fasting period which lasts for around 30 days. During the day, people do not eat. This can make travel throughout Indonesia a little more challenging but with some forward planning you can get around it.

Indonesia is such a natural beauty, blessed with great weather, friendly people and so much diversity one holiday would never be enough. If you’re looking for affordable luxury, without compromising natural beauty, then Indonesia is a wonderful choice for you.
